Kaleidoscope (“How’d Ya Get to be Happiness”)

Art Curation | Design Engineering | Project Management | Fabrication & Installation

Location: Huntington Beach, CA
Square Footage: 122,000+

The largest mural in California, an energetic and dynamic piece that celebrates color and nature. In 2020, we were given the opportunity to transform a power plant in Huntington Beach. An extensive curatorial effort took place with AES Corporation, the city, state, and community of Huntington Beach with over 50 artists and stylistic approaches. Kim West was the chosen finalist with her energetic and colorful interpretation of the surrounding wetlands and the movement of butterflies.

A massive group of butterflies is called a kaleidoscope, which is exactly what they look like.... these shifting, beautiful colors that are playing with one another.
